2010 BOCI Strikes Gold Rally
September 12th - 17th, 2010
Our 2010 Annual Rally and Business Meeting is just around the corner so make your plans and mark your calendars to join your fellow BOCI members at our 7th Annual Event. This year we will be in the heart of California’s Gold Country at the 49er RV Village Resort in Plymouth, California.
You’ll have plenty of opportunities to visit with old friends and make new ones while enjoying the many activities we have planned. A few of these activities include Technical Seminars, Question and Answer Sessions, Rig Tours, and our ever popular Serendipity Pot Luck Dinner.
There will be games such as Ric & Linda Allen’s Dice Madness and Jack Throne’s Cribbage Tournament, Gayle George-Sackett’s Dog Show and the final night’s campfire sing along. There will be social hours, wine tasting and who knows what else?
We’ve built in a little free time again this year so you may find your gold nugget by visiting some of the many attractions in the area, go shopping, go horseback riding, play golf, go fishing, or participate in some of the onsite activities like Elaine Willoughby’s and Babette Furchak’s cooking class or Lisa Calkins’ and Sue Stinson’s Quilting Group outing or just relax. You’ll receive additional information on all the great things to do in the area at registration.
Some of the attractions in the area are the Historic Kennedy Gold Mine, the Sutter Gold Mine, the Amador Flower Farm, Cavern Tours, local wineries, Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Old Town Sacramento, Sutter’s Fort where gold was first discovered in California, and the Railroad Museum to name just a few of the attractions. There’ll be many options available for your enjoyment.
And, don’t forget our very popular Raffle that just gets better and better every year because of your donations. For our new members (or those of us who have a tendency to forget), a raffle gift may be anything you think others may enjoy or really would like representing your home town or state or specific items made exclusively for our raffle. I’ve already heard about a few planned for this year’s raffle and they are awesome!
We have reserved 80 campsites for the Rally and all sites are available for early arrivals up to 5 nights before and, for those wishing to stay, up to 7 nights after the rally, so sign up early!!!

2010 San Diego, CA Mini-Rally
2010 San Diego, California Mini-Rally
May 10 thru 13, 2010
Ric & Linda Allen have initiated negotiations with the Chula Vista RV Park &
Marina, home of a previous successful BOCI Mini Rally in April 2006.
Their Website is http://www.chulavistarv.com/ Check it out.
The dates for our Mini Rally will be May 10,11,12, 13, 2010. As a lot
of you know this park is a Class Act located right on San Diego Bay.
The cost including tax for the three nights will be $110.55. Usual
prices are in the $70 a night range. Our first San Diego Mini Rally
was a huge success. If you have never visited San Diego this will be
a great opportunity to see thier city. Per Mini Rally Guidelines there
will be few structured activities, just a list of things to do in the
area. We will have a welcome night get together hosted by Ric & Linda.
Cocktails, mixers and snackies provided. One evening meal will be a
famous BOCI Pot Luck. Beyond that, we’ll figure it out when you arrive.
The park looks to one party (Ric & Linda) for payment of the site fees, so when
the time is right, they will ask that you send them a check.
If you have never been to a BOCI Mini Rally, don’t miss this
opportunity.
We are limiting the size of this event to a maximum of 20 rigs. More
than half are already committed. Please take a moment and respond to
this Poll: http://www.bigfootowners.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/2306/
to help them better plan they would also appreciate a quick e mail to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
with your name and contact information. We will talk more about this
at the Colorado Rally in September and we will ask for your
confirmation later this year.
Thanks, we look forward to hearing from you and seeing you in San Diego.

2008/2009 Financial Reports
BOCI COVER NOTE
BOCI has received the attached financial report from our Certified Public Accountant, Lynnette I. Torrey. The cover sheet includes legal language required of all Balance Sheets completed by Certified Public Accountants. We have been advised by Ms. Torrey that the reference to the ‘ omission of substantially all of the disclosures ordinarily included in financial statements’ is legal verbiage required on all financial statements that do not have a requirement for disclosures. Financial statements with disclosures are mostly used by large, for profit companies that have some the following situations: employee benefit plans, stock option/purchase plans, property leases, going concern issues, litigation issues, major fixed asset classes, net operating losses, etc. Disclosures give the reader of the financial statement information about these items and their effects on the viability of the company. Disclosures are therefore unnecessary as BOCI does not have these situations.
Your 2009 BOCI Board of Directors
The following reports have been prepared by BOCI's professional CPAs, and approved by The Board of Directors. They cover income and expenses for the Fiscal Year of 2008/2009 (July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009). They include some (but not all) income and expenses for both the 2008 and the 2009 Rallies. This is due to the requirement to pay certain advance rally deposits at various times of the Calendar year. These reports will be updated on the Web Site annually.

2007 Fort Bragg Mini-Rally
April 20-23, 2007
Bill and Carlene Pickering hosted this beautiful and relaxing weekend at the Pomo RV Park, which is tucked into a natural forest near the rugged coastline just south of Fort Bragg, California. Beautiful weather welcomed the Pickerings, but clouds began gathering as Jan & Cecil Romero, John & Louise Throne, Jack & Elaine Willoughby and Jay & Suzie Jacobs arrived Friday afternoon.
After settling in and adjusting their attitudes, they went on to dinner at The Wharf in Fort Bragg. Upon their return to camp, they found Dolores Westfall had arrived and was tripping about in the dark, dodging drizzle. By the time Don & Eileen Gorth arrived in the middle of the night, it was raining. How cozy it was to curl up and sleep that night with the soothing sounds of rain on the roof.
Heavy rain all day Saturday curtailed thoughts of hiking, so everyone went uptown to shop and have lunch. Everyone, that is, except Dolores. Notorious for being a late sleeper, everyone thought she was still in bed when they knocked on her door and got no answer. Turned out she was outside, on the other side of her rig, finally getting around to hooking up. When she got out from under, everyone was gone! Oh, the trials of being a late bird who misses the early worm…
Everyone did their own thing that wet afternoon — relaxing in camp, taking a jaunt to Garberville, visiting with nearby family and taking a long walk in the rain. We made up for all that quiet relaxation by gathering that evening in the Park's rustic club room, where we built a fire in the fireplace, munched on gobs of goodies, played card games, sampled numerous wines and other drinks, and enjoyed high spirits. Perfect for a rainy evening! Spotting an unidentified Bigfoot in the campground, Jan and Louise marched right over to their site and invited them to join us. Even though they were entertaining guests, one of them came to meet us, have a drink, and learn about BOCI and our website.
We awoke Sunday to beautiful weather and enjoyed the sparkling morning in camp. It was a perfect afternoon to hike the impressive Mendocino Botanical Gardens which extends all the way to the coastal cliff top. Looking down on the dramatic shoreline below, we lingered amongst the blooming flowers, spectacular rhododendrons, and colors made even more brilliant by the wet soil. The ice cream treats were pretty good there, too.
At Jack Willoughby's suggestion, we closed the weekend with a dinner at the excellent Little River Inn restaurant. We were graciously greeted by co-owner Mel McKinney, Jack's friend and former schoolmate. We enjoyed the atmosphere of that historic building, and our dining room featured huge picture windows that looked out on dramatically blooming landscaping. Such tulips! The food there is a gift to the taste buds.
What a lovely weekend this was! A big thanks to the Pickerings for hosting, and a special thank you to Bill for the bottle of his own wine which he presented to each of us, complete with a commemorative BOCI label and deluxe corkscrew!
Dolores Westfall and Carlene Pickering
The Mini- Rally ended on the 22nd with the Romeros and Thrones continuing their journey to Mount Shasta, Ca. Jack with his fishing pole in hand headed for the local streams. On Tuesday the Thrones returned to Orangevale and the Romeros headed East to Reno. Ahhhh, parting is such sweet sorrow. We had a fantastic time with memories to last for the rest of our lives.

2007 BOCI Baja Blast
The BOCI Baja Blast (Jan. 20-Feb. 21) with Fantasy RV down the Baja was a blast, even though there were only 3 Bigfoots in the caravan. Fantasy made the trip very enjoyable with a lot of great memories.
We started our journey in San Diego, our first major stop south (after about 650 miles…gas around $2.30) was in Mulege…getting there had us stopping a night in Vicente Guerrero, Catavina (dry camping) and Guerrero Negro. In Vicente Guerrero, we had a wonderful Fantasy RV (company) kickoff dinner. At the Catavina stop (very cold), the company provided margaritas plus a crazy hat contest. After passing into Baja California Sur, we stopped in Guerrero Negro and, again, the company hosted a casual dinner. The next leg into Mulege was somewhat harrowing in that we dropped down to the Sea of Cortez by traveling through “Devil’s Grade” and meeting several semi trucks. The 3 days in Mulege were very enjoyable. We once again had a wonderful company dinner.
Our longest stay of 5 days was in Los Barriles about a block from the Sea of Cortez. This southbound leg of the trip was about 350 miles with a night stop in Puerto Escondido near Loreto where we visited the mission and, of course, shopped. Loreto would be a great stop for a longer period but large RV parks seemed to be non-existent. 3 nights were spent in La Paz where we took a company bus tour of a ceramic factory, the city church, a museum, and a central market. Los Barriles turned out to be our favorite stop. The moon over Sea of Cortez was a knockout. We took a 6-hour boat trip to the Giggling Marlin for lunch…on the way we saw a pod of 15 grey whales, porpoises, manta rays, and flying fish. Another day was spent on an awesome 4 hour ATV ride, boy can those Bigfooters fly. An evening with all at another company dinner. We closed out this stay with a Super bowl party at a local eatery.
From Cabo San Lucas, we traveled turned north for 400 miles to Bahia de Concepcion. Stops on the way included 2 nights at Playa Tecolote beach near La Paz, where we collected seashells, enjoyed much much downtime, and weathered a very windy beachside happy hour. Another night stay going north was spent in Puerto Escondido. At Bahia de Concepcion, we enjoyed downtime, ocean kayaking, a spaghetti feed, a company beach BBQ/fire, but, again, the wind played havoc at times.
The next leg north was about 200 miles to Guerrero Negro. On the way, we stopped 1 night in San Ignacio where we visited the mission, shopped and had cervezas (not our first). A Baja race car photo tour shared our RV park…boy was that an experience with the swing shift repair crews’ party. At Guerrero Negro, we enjoyed another company dinner and whale watching.
Our final leg north covered 560 miles with a night stop in Catavina where we enjoyed a caravan potluck and company margaritas (it was windy but not as cold this time). We closed out the final 2 days together in Ensenada but rain and very strong winds dampened the stay. But we did manage to take in La Bufadora (the blowhole) and nearby seaside shops. The last evening, the company hosted a wonderful “Last Supper” where we all said our goodbyes.

2006 Armstrong/Vernon Mini Mini Rally
May 2006
The Romeros and Thrones recently went on a road trip to Canada, visiting the Bigfoot Factory in Armstrong, BC, and participating in a Mini-Rally with the Bolenders (owners of a 30MH29RQ) in Sisters, Or.
The Thrones, starting from their home in Orangevale, Ca in a 30MH29RQ met up with the Romeros in Reno, Nv. The Romeros own a 40MH35LX. They caravaned through Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington and into Canada. Starting on 11 May and reaching Armstrong, BC on Sunday 14 May.
In addition to visiting the Factory, they had a wonderful time visiting Canada and enjoying everything the local areas of Armstrong and Vernon had to offer. While at the Bigfoot Factory the Romeros and Thrones were treated royally! The support provided by Mark Holmes, Craig Mayall, and Garry Grochowich was outstanding!
They traveled to Sisters, Oregon, leaving on Friday the 19th and arriving on the 21st. In Sisters, Chad and June Bolender organized an impromptu mini-rally treating the Thrones and Romeros to a fantastic time of song, dance, food and just good old time friendship in the gorgeous Oregon surroundings.

2006 San Diego Mini Rally
April 21-24, 2006
The second annual San Diego BOCI mini-rally was exactly what a mini-rally should be: fun, fabulous site, great weather and a host of activities from which attendees chose. Not to forget a terrific rally rate at about half of the regular price! The best part was that everyone got what he/she wanted out of the four or more days by the bay at the Chula Vista RV Resort.
There were small group activities, including a tour of the aircraft carrier, Midway, and the Embarcadero area, to individual outings like the Tijuana Estuary and local shopping. Again, the San Diego Trolley was used by many to see the sights. Some dined at the local eateries at the marina and one authentic Mexican restaurant. And some just hung out at the resort.
The marina and Bayside Park offered good walking trails with lots of beautiful scenery. Most of all, everyone got to get acquainted or renew old friendships and enjoy each other’s company. It’s always fun to see so many Bigfoot rigs in one place! A delicious potluck dinner capped off the weekend nicely. Everyone left with good memories and a full belly.

2006 Puerto Penasco Shrimp and Fish Fiesta
February 8-13, 2006
Del and Sue Chase weren't kidding when they titled this a shrimp and fish fiesta. Another trawler must have been added to the fleet just to feed us!
Throughout the day on February 7, a trailer, a camper, five motorhomes and four towds arrived at the Gila Bend RV Resort in Arizona carrying 13 people and two dogs. We came from Arizona, California, Colorado, British Columbia and England. The Chases -- with help from their socially conscious German Shepherd, Moqui -- organized, planned and led this international mini-rally with aplomb and great success. It was fun, informative and absolutely delicious.
BOCI founders Ric and Linda Allen arrived in their new camper, having recently sold their splendid 29' motorhome. They didn't exactly downsize, though, since they also just bought a 45-foot Prevost for longer excursions. We can only surmise that it takes two RVs to replace one Bigfoot motorhome, eh? Glad you're still with us, guys!
Big Al Enger surprised us by bringing "Aunt Buela" along. We soon discovered that it was really Kathy Prochotsky, a Bigfooter we had met at last year's annual rally in Oregon. Dave and Glena Black brought their Schnauzer Mandi, who kept Glena in great shape taking long beach walks to see the sun come up every morning. Dolores Westfall stopped wandering the southwest long enough to join us, Barry and Sue Ambrose hopped the Pond to pick up their motorhome and meet us, and we were happy to welcome Doug and Rita Sarbach to their first BOCI rally and allowed them to be strangers for about 15 seconds.
Ric brought his collection of 2-way radios so we could communicate as we caravanned south. He could have outfitted a small city! Gila Bend's Outer Limits Space Age Coffee Shop seemed like the right place for this group's get-acquainted dinner.
The next day we caravanned through the lush Sonoran Desert framed by Arizona's dramatic mountains. As we drove through the Goldwater Air Force Range, impressive military jets zipped through maneuvers above us. By mid-afternoon we were settled in at the Playa Bonita RV Resort in Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point to us Gringos) and ready for the HUGE shrimp they serve there.
During the course of five days, we gorged on every variation of shrimp and fish dish imaginable, sampled numerous margaritas and wines, viewed the Gulf from all angles, walked the beach, toured different areas of the town on foot and by car. We shopped, photographed, got our rigs washed and became captives of Joaquin Fragozza, a versatile and fun entertainer who really knew how to work the crowd ... and us. As always, we learned from each other as we discussed our rigs and their toys.
We ended the rally with drinks and finger food that morphed into a ... surprise, surprise ... shrimp pot luck feast. The next morning two rigs drove west across the top of Mexico to San Diego, three drove north to Arizona, and two waved good-bye to us and stayed another day or two or ...?
Terrific mini-rally, Del and Sue! We look forward to seeing everyone at the annual rally this September in South Dakota. Ya'll come ... es muy bien!

2005 Mid-California Weekend Mini-Rally
Pismo Beach, California
November 4 & 5, 2005
Thanks go to Karl Wagner for setting up this weekend mini-rally. It was a shame that the work thing interrupted his plans and he had to miss a good time!
On Friday the first arrival was Dolores Westfall (Kelseyville) in her 29RQ, having already been on the road for 19 days. Steve and Carol Famularo (Santa Cruz) arrived next in their 24-footer, with Robyn Hagar and Bill Dodd (Adelaida) arriving shortly thereafter in Robyn's 29G with slick maroon trim. And then ... very late at night ... Don and Eileen Gorth (Sunnyvale) with son Mike -- along with their irresistible Maltese, Tullie -- tried to sneak into their site well after midnight. Wide-awake late bird Dolores spotted them backing up their 29G in the black of night, provided a little light and a short welcome.
Saturday began with a communal breakfast of pancakes, bacon and eggs. The day ended with a luscious dinner at the Custom House in Avila Beach where we were joined by Don and Eileen's son Paul and his girlfriend. We celebrated Paul's birthday whether he liked it or not. In between those two meals, we explored Avila Beach, visited Monarch Butterflies, rode bicycles, enjoyed fresh roasted corn-on-the-cob and ice cream at The Barn, and -- most important -- toured each other's motorhomes. After dinner we gathered for wine and enjoyed viewing Big Al Productions DVDs of our annual rally held last July in Oregon.
Sunday morning became Tech Time as we all had bay doors open and were busily prepping our rigs. Vows were made to change valve stems, additional air valves were discovered, mass attacks were made on wheel simulators, inveterate boondockers learned about hookups, and mechanic Steve made helpful suggestions and generally had his brain picked. Besides meeting nice Bigfooters and having a good time, we all learned something new and useful.
As we left, we promised to meet again. Some Monarchs fluttered by to bid us good-bye as we pulled out.

2005 Midwest Fiery Fall Foliage
October 8-17, 2005
The Midwest Fiery Fall Foliage 2005 Get Together at Starved Rock was not as well attended as hoped. New BOCI members Jim and Shelley came for the last weekend10/14 thru 10/16. They had fun with their boat and enjoyed the fall colors. Future Bigfoot owners and BOCI members Dick and Gay stopped by on 10/15 with many questions and gained much confidence in their purchase of a 3000 series Bigfoot. One disappointment was one couple that emailed us with plans to attend and didn`t make it. We even had made arrangement to save the site that BigAl had reserved, but didn`t use. We went to an internet café and emailed this couple about the site but never heard from them. With the encouragement of the ones who attended another mini rally will happen.
I am emailing a questionnaire to those who attended and others to help pick a time and place for our next mini rally.
See you all Soon!!!

2005 San Diego Surf & Turf
April 29, 30, May, 2005
The San Diego "Surf and Turf" mini-rally at the pristine, beautifully landscaped San Diego Metro KOA in Chula Vista, California was attended by 10 Bigfoot rigs from Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada, and California. We had a great time visiting new and old friends. The picnic area by Jan and Cec Romero’s awesome new triple slide Bigfoot Kodiak made a favorite meeting place for relaxing and enjoying the perfect weather. As you know, San Diego is known for its weather. It didn’t let us down for this rally.
Everyone brought something to share for a delicious BBQ. On another occasion we hiked up the hill to a Japanese restaurant where they welcomed us with a wonderful meal. During the day people picked their own activities. Some stayed at the park, relaxing under the many trees. Others went on an adventure to Seaport Village in downtown San Diego, some 15 miles away by shuttle bus and the famous red trolley that criss-crosses the city. We walked by the bay and admired the floating museum, the aircraft carrier Midway, as well as all the many other boats and ships sailing by. Fish tacos were also admired and consumed. Seaport Village is a collection of ethnic restaurants and souvenir shops close to hotels, a marina, and the convention centre on the water’s edge. Nice views everywhere. A quick trip back on the trolley and bus got us back just in time for, a guess what? Yes, food and favorite beverages! Again, Jan and Cec hosted. After all, they have the outside T.V! A beautiful string of lights allowed us to enjoy visiting into the evening.
Linda Allen
P.S.
I’m sorry if you missed this mini-rally. It was
easy to organize and fun to attend. The special rally
prices were a nice discount at $25 instead of the normal
$47. We hope you consider hosting a Bigfoot rally wherever
you are.
2005 Mexican Fiesta
Baja Mini Rally at El
Dorado Ranch, San Felipe
March 18-24, 2005
Calexico's Wal-Mart parking lot was buzzing early on March 18th as our assortment of Bigfooters came together. Big Al Enger towed his trailer from Colorado and we all had the opportunity to see his face before it became permanently covered by his video camera. Barry and Sue Ambrose drove their 24-footer down from England. (Well, actually, their Bigfoot waits for them in North America.) On the way, they camped at Joshua Tree National Park and came upon Dolores Westfall, who was driving her 30-foot from Northern California through all the desert parks. Introducing themselves, they discovered they were headed for the same rendezvous!
Del and Sue Chase Bigfooted from Arizona, being guided by Moqui, their really friendly German Shepherd who enjoys the space provided by their slideout. Ric and Linda Allen drove the shortest distance, coming from the San Diego area with daughter Jenny, who was celebrating Spring break. By the time we left the parking lot, we were already good friends.
Ric led the caravan to El Dorado Ranch (north of San Felipe), communicating with the rest of us by CB, radio and a collection of portable hand units. He kept himself busy and confused by saying everything multiple times, occasionally forgetting which gadget he was speaking into.
Once there, we quickly settled into a week's worth of activities. Between poolside breakfasts at La Polapa Restaurant and dinners at Juanito's Cantina, we played tennis, drank margaritas, practiced yoga, drank margaritas, danced at Juanito's, and drank margaritas. We viewed notorious Big Al videos, toured local building projects, rented quads and drove the countryside, took an off-road tour to a turquoise mine, and visited the town of San Felipe. Jenny flew her first kite, Dolores took her first ultralight "trike flite," Moqui ate a Frisbee, the Chases put on a luscious seafood feed, and Big Al photographed everything.
The absolutely silliest laugh session came during a tequila/mescal tasting when Barry, Sue Chase, Del and Al came to no conclusion on the tequilas, failed the mescal, and decided that the worm was too pickled to care. Moqui left in disgust and Dolores was laughing too hard to participate. The longest walk was taken when some of us decided to dip our toes into the Gulf waters during low tide. We must have walked a half mile to get to the water and learned firsthand about the huge horizontal tides there!
We took two different routes back to California. Three rigs drove back up Baja's Highway 5 through the desert to Calexico, and two rigs took a route over wildflowered hills on Highway 3 to the Pacific Ocean, joining Highway 1 and entering the U.S. through Tijuana. The Ambroses, Allens and Dolores soothed their separation anxiety by camping one more night together at Sweetwater Regional Park in Bonita before going their separate ways.
We had a fun adventure with good folks, and we all hope to meet again in Oregon!
