The New Bigfoot Industries 2010

I am aware that many of you have already seen the announcement below and have asked why it was not announced on our website sooner.  The answer is we wanted to make sure these guys are the real deal before getting everyone’s hopes up and it appears that they are.

I have been in contact with Grant Bilodeau at Bigfoot Industries 2010. He has over 20 years’ experience working for and on Bigfoot RV’s. What follows is a summary of our discussion (with Grant’s approval to pass it on to you).

Grant indicated that many former Bigfoot Industries Employees are involved in the new Bigfoot Industries 2010 representing  over 300 years’ of Bigfoot experience and knowledge.

The new Bigfoot Industries 2010 is located in the old Bigfoot Industries facilities in Armstrong, BC as part of the Rhinokore Corporation. Most of the molds for the campers, trailers and motorhomes still exist at the site.

Their immediate goals are to provide support to current Bigfoot owners in servicing and maintaining their truck campers, travel trailers and motorhomes. They are aware that many owners have found it difficult to find fiberglass parts for their units and will make this their first priority as they begin production. In addition, they will soon be producing truck campers and travel campers. Sorry, motorhomes are not in the current plans but may be in the future.

It may take 6 to 9 months for the new Bigfoot Industries 2010 to start production and Grant has agreed to keep us updated on new developments.

We will also have a new Section on the forum very soon titled “Bigfoot Industries 2010” where you may post questions and comments for the staff of the new Bigfoot Industries 2010.

2009 Wrap-up

Well, needless to say that 2009 was a very interesting and challenging year for BOCI and your new Board of Directors especially with the closing of Bigfoot Industries. All in all the year was a success in many ways. Our membership grew to over 560 members by the end of year, we had a very successful rally, we upgraded the website (not without some problems though) and we have switched to the fiscal calendar year to make it easier to manage and understand BOCI finances.

Goals for 2010

Our goals for 2010 are to continue to seek out opportunities to grow our memberships, not only Owner Members but Associate Members. Continue to improve our website to make it more User friendly and add sections that you may want. Add Standing Committees and seek volunteers to serve on these committees to assist with BOCI operations. And, have another successful and awesome rally at the 49’er Village RV Resort in Plymouth, California.

Board of Directors Activities

Finance

Al Sandberg and Cheryl Love are working on the transfer of the Treasurer’s duties to Cheryl by the end of the month. We thank Al and Jeannette Sandberg for the great job they did as our BOCI Treasurer and in moving our fiscal year to the calendar year. Our ½ year fiscal year ended December 31, 2009 and we’ll have the financial reports posted on the website when they are completed by our CPA firm, most likely in March.

Membership Identification Numbers & Revised Online Membership Directory

We have been discussing the concept of Membership Identification Numbers for Members to put on their rigs, much the same as Family Motor Coach Association, Air Stream, etc. So far we’ve talked about having approximately 4 inch tall numbers that can be displayed on your rig either on the front, rear or both front and rear. This way other members may identify you as a BOCI Member and look up your ID number on the website (which may be downloadable) so they know who they saw.

But, then our website Members Directory will need to be updated with the ID number and the Members name. Currently the Members Directory has the Members Username and once you click on the Username you can find the City and State they live in, email address and other information but not their name.

I have placed this topic on the forum under BOCI Business Discussions to poll our membership and get feedback to whether or not we should continue to develop this concept.

Website Improvements

We are still working on improvements to our website. Most recently we have expanded the Photo Gallery section to accept larger pictures and more pictures per post.   We would appreciate your input on how we may improve the website to better serve your needs. I have placed a topic on the forum under BOCI Business Discussion titled “Website Thoughts” to capture your input.

Membership Renewal

All Memberships are on an annual basis expiring December 31st of the calendar year of your membership. Those New Members that joined late in the year, September through December 2009 your Membership is also good for 2010. Returning Members who renewed their 2009 Membership late in the year will need to renew for 2010.

If you haven’t renewed your Membership for 2010 yet, please renew before January 31, 2010. Starting February 1, 2010 delinquent memberships will be moving to the Inactive file which will block access to the BOCI Members section of our website.
